Will the notebookwings work with my laptop?

The notebookwings work with almost ALL notebooks. They work with Mac, Windows, Linux, Chromebook and any device with a video output source.

Below is a deeper dive for more specific compatibility questions. You are also welcome to send us your questions via the
contact form.

Please note that some notebooks only support one notebookwings display at a time. You can find more information on this at the bottom of this page in the compatibility section.

As shown, the notebookwings have 3 inputs per display, making different setups possible.

Each of the notebookwings' two displays requires both power and a video signal to function. Your laptop will serve as the source for the power and the video signal. The inputs that you use for your setup depend on the connections on your laptop.

Check the edges of your laptop (or your laptops's user manual) and identify the types of video ports and USB ports your laptop has. Laptop video connections come in many different formats:

HDMI, DisplayPort, Mini-DisplayPort, VGA, Thunderbolt 3, and USB 3.0 (with HDMI adapter) are a few examples.

Limited functionality: only one notebookwings display can be used.

If your laptop has two Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C with DisplayPort output, the easiest way to use the notebookwings is with the two supplied USB-C cables. In this setup you only need two USB-C cables to use both displays.

If your laptop does not have a Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C with DisplayPort output, you must use a USB-A to USB-C cable and an HDMI to mini-HDMI cable for each display to ensure the power supply and to receive a video signal .

If your laptop does not have an HDMI output, you can use all of the other video outputs shown below by inserting a corresponding HDMI adapter (not included, but available separately from us). It is important that your laptop has at least two video outputs and at least two USB outputs in order to be able to use both displays of the notebook wing at the same time.

Which cables are required?

Now that you know which ports your laptop has, you can determine which cables you need to connect each display. Keep in mind that any display needs video and power to function.

The table shows some options how you can connect your laptop to the notebookwings.

If your laptop neither has a Thunderbolt 3 output or a USB-C with DisplayPort or an HDMI output, you can use any of the other video outputs mentioned above together with a simple HDMI adapter. You are also welcome to receive them directly from us.

Which display size is the right one?

The notebookwings are available in two sizes. The correct size of the notebookwings depends on the following characteristics of your laptop:

  • Display diagonal or display width

Please note that your laptop must not exceed the maximum dimensions given below.

For notebookwings 11.6 inches

  • Max. Display width 372 mm *

  • Max. Display thickness 7 mm

For notebookwings 13.3 inches

  • Max. Display width 417 mm *

  • Max. Display thickness 7 mm

* The display width refers to the entire width across the laptop including the frame.

Depending on the display diagonal of your laptop, you can choose the size of the notebookwings.

For laptops from 13 to 15 inches

  • notebookwings 11.6 inches

For laptops from 14 to 16 inches

  • notebookwings 13.3 inches

Choosing the right notebookwings guarantees a secure and stable fit on your laptop.

If you have a 14 inch laptop, you can choose between both sizes of notebookwings.
