The screen text is too small, I can't read it.

Windows:

If you find the text on the notebookwings too small, you can increase the size of the text via the Windows settings. To do this, go to Settings > System > Display, select the display at the top and increase the "Size of text, apps and other elements" under "Scaling and arrangement". For example, set a value of 150% and the text should be easy for you to read.

MacOS:

My Audio isn't working now.

Windows:

To do this, go to Settings > System > Sound and select a source other than "HDMI (Intel(R) Display Audio)" under "Select Output Device". If you have multiple sources available, test through them until you have sound again.

MacOS:

To do this, go to System Preferences > Sound > Output and select "Internal Speakers" from the "Select a device for sound output" list.

My PC screens are duplicated (1|3, 2|3 issue)

Don't worry, this is a quick and easy customization in your display settings. Follow the step-by-step guide below to set everything up.

If you see a similar picture as below, your screens are duplicated and you need to switch to extended screens. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In Windows, go to Settings > System > Display and under "Rearrange screens" click on the rectangle with "1|2" (or in some cases "1|3" or "2|3") and highlight it blue.

  2. Scroll down to the section "Multiple displays".

  3. Select "Extend these displays" from the "Multiple screens" drop-down menu.

  4. Make sure you select "Keep changes" in the subsequent message, Note that the message may be displayed on one of your additional screens, but still make sure you select "Keep changes".

Can I extend and mirror my display?

Yes, you can both extend and mirror your display. To do this, simply go to your laptops's display settings and select which setting you want to use.

Are the notebookwings compatible with Chromebook?

Yes! As long as your laptop has a display diagonal of at least 13 inches, the notebookwings are compatible! Please check our question "Will the notebookwings work with my laptop?" above for additional information.

Can I use Remote Desktop or VPN on the notebookwings?

Many customers need to use a VPN service like Remote Desktop to access a network computer. Using your notebookwings with one of these services is just as easy as using it with standard monitors.

Can the notebookwings be used with my Microsoft Surface Pro?

The notebookwings are compatible with the Microsoft Surface Pro (versions 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, X). However, the following adjustments are required:

  • Versions 3-4 require a Microsoft Surface Dock and 2 x Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters to work properly.

  • Versions 5-7 can take advantage of the Microsoft Surface Dock 2, which only allows one cable per screen (included with notebookwings).

  • Version 7 can also use the native ports to connect, but you'll probably want to use the charger that comes with your Surface to ensure the notebookwings are adequately powered.

  • Version X uses 2 included USB-C cables to provide video and power for the notebookwings' runtime. You will likely want to use the charger connected to your Surface to ensure the notebookwings are sufficiently powered.

Please note that the notebookwings cover the Surface's built-in kickstand, so the notebookwings' built-in kickstand must be used.

All in all, while the notebookwings are compatible with the Surface Pro, we find that they are best used on a traditional notebook and not a tablet.

Are the notebookwings compatible with my Surface Book.

The notebookwings are compatible with all versions of the Microsoft Surface Book. However, adjustments are required:

  • Surface Book 1: This model has 2 x USB-A and 1 x mini DisplayPort. For the first display, use a mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter for video and a USB-A for power. For the second display, use a USB-A to HDMI+USB adapter, for video and power input.

  • Surface Book 2 & 3: This model only needs a USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter to provide video for the display. The rest of the ports work with the model's native ports.

Common Troubleshooting

The screens cannot be turn on.

If your notebookwings won't turn on, you should first check the connections.

  • Make sure you can power BOTH displays with video AND power. Unless your notebook has a USB-C with display port or a Thunderbolt 3 port, you will need to use 2 cables per display for each display to work (1 HDMI video cable and 1 USB-C power cable).

  • If you are using a USB-C port on your notebook along with a single USB-C 90-degree to USB-C cable for power and video, make sure your notebook supports video signals through that USB-C port. Look online for your notebook's user manual for these details.

  • If you're using a USB splitter or USB hub, try plugging the cables directly into the notebook ports instead of the hub or splitter and see if that fixes the problem. Most splitters and hubs split power from a single USB port, limiting the power required for each notebookwings display.

"No Signal" or "No Input" messenges are pop up on my screen.

If you get a "No Signal" or "No Input" message on either display, see below for some troubleshooting tips.

  • Make sure you can power BOTH displays with video AND power. Unless your notebook has a USB-C with display port or a Thunderbolt 3 port, you will need to use 2 cables per display for each display to work (1 HDMI video cable and 1 USB-C power cable).

"Input Not Supported" message is displayed on my screen for Mac

If you have a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro and you see the "Input Not Supported" message on one of the displays, don't worry, here is a simple solution!

  1. Connect the USB-A to USB-C cable and the HDMI cable to both your MacBook and the display until you see this error message again.

  2. Open your display preferences (System Preferences > Display).

  3. Click the "Gather Windows" button in the lower right corner of your display settings window.

  4. Click and open the window that appears directly behind your primary window.
